Tarnia Cooper
Founder and Course Coordinator
Hi there,
I’m Tarnia, co-founder of Linking the Next Steps VIC and Linking the Next Steps INC alongside Emma. From there, we created Bridging the Gap, a program that’s as much about real-world skills as it is about making sure neurodiverse young adults don’t feel like they’ve been thrown into the deep end after leaving school (without a life jacket).
With a Diploma of Community Services and firsthand experience—both as a late-diagnosed neurodiverse individual and as a parent to two amazing neurodiverse daughters—I know how tricky that transition from school to work or further study can be. I’ve seen the gaps, fallen into a few myself, and decided it was time to build a bridge instead.
That’s why Bridging the Gap exists—to help young neurodiverse adults (16-24) develop workplace communication skills in a way that actually makes sense to them. Our sessions are professional but relaxed, full of practical skills (and a few laughs), because learning shouldn’t feel like a chore.
Together, Emma and I have also created workshops to answer the most important questions parents and families have about the NDIS. As support coordinators, we’re passionate about sharing our knowledge with the community so that everyone can access the best possible support.
At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to make sure no one has to navigate this journey alone. Because with the right support, confidence, and a space where you can truly be yourself, stepping into the next stage of life doesn’t have to be so overwhelming.

Emma Wallis
Founder and Community Liason Officer
With a Diploma of Community Services and extensive experience in training and assessment across various workplaces, I am passionate about creating opportunities for individuals to thrive. My work in the not-for-profit sector has strengthened my dedication to supporting neurodiverse people and ensuring they have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to navigate education, employment, and community life.

As Co-Founder of Linking the Next Steps VIC and our non-profit organisation, Linking the Next Steps INC, I am committed to making a lasting impact through innovative programs and community-driven initiatives.
Together with Tarnia, I share a deep commitment to Bridging the Gap, a program designed to empower neurodiverse individuals by promoting workplace inclusion, financial independence, and self-advocacy. Our mission is to break down barriers and create meaningful opportunities for all.
Outside of work, I’m a proud parent to two teenage children, a loving stepmother to an adult daughter, and a delighted grandparent to my wonderful grandson. I also share my home with a very spoilt Cavoodle, who keeps life entertaining and full of cuddles! My personal and professional experiences have shaped my unwavering belief in the power of community, connection, and lifelong learning.

Let’s work together to create a more inclusive world—one step at a time!
